Professional qualifications and life experienceI have a Master of Arts degree and Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling following a five-year BACP and UKCP accredited training at the Minster Centre, London. I am registered with UKCP, a member of the Accredited Voluntary Register and a registered member of BACP. I have been working with clients since 2005, as a trainee both in the voluntary sector and privately and since 2009 as a fully qualified therapist where I now work in private practice. In 2012, I obtained a post qualifying certificate in couple counselling and psychotherapy from the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education, London.
I originally trained as a solicitor specialising in family and child law and witnessed the impact and distress of childhood trauma and family breakdown. Since then I have worked in various different capacities in the same field including advice, support and advocacy, family mediation for separating couples, training and policy development. With over 30 years’ experience in this area and my own personal experience of therapy I decided to train as a therapist in order to work with the psychological issues arising for people in these circumstances.
